Spreading Cheer: Our Partnership with Project Concern

Here at the Dundas Lions Club, we believe in the power of community — and nothing brings that spirit to life quite like our partnership with Project Concern.

Recently, a few of our members had the honour of joining officers from the Hamilton Police Service to present a donation on behalf of Project Concern. (Yes, that’s us in the photo — holding an impressively large cheque and even bigger smiles!)

Project Concern has been making a difference since 1976, funded entirely through the payroll contributions of Hamilton Police Members. It's a grassroots effort aimed at giving back to those who need it most — and we’re proud to assist in supporting such a meaningful initiative.

Each year, the Project Concern committee (a dedicated group of volunteers) meets regularly to identify where these funds can have the greatest impact. From emergency needs to uplifting community programs, they make 20 to 30 thoughtful donations annually — and we love seeing those funds turn into something tangible and joyful.

One of the highlights? Their annual “It’s a Kids Christmas” event at Carmen’s Event Centre. It’s a heartwarming day filled with holiday cheer, crafts, a delicious meal, gifts, and — of course — a visit from Santa. We’ve been lucky to help out with this magical event over the years, and it never fails to remind us what community really means.

At the Dundas Lions Club, our motto is “We Serve,” and it’s been a true privilege to serve alongside Project Concern. Together, we’re helping to spread kindness, support local families, and make the holidays (and the rest of the year!) a little brighter for those who need it most.
